Release Note: August 2024 Update - Improved Output Devices, Sound Effects and more

This summer update  lays the fundations for the future evolutions of Sound Show.

Sound Effects Improvements
  • New Effects: Added Distortion and Normalize sound effects.
  • Revised Configuration: The sound configuration popup is now simplified, showing only the sound effects that are configured.
  • Modified UI: Sound effects are now selectable via a dropdown menu instead of tabs, making it easier to manage the growing number of available effects.
Options Improvements
  • Menu Integration: The options view has been removed and replaced with an options menu in the menu bar, accompanied by standardized popups. This change enhances visual consistency across the application and simplifies the addition of new options.
Sound Output Refactor
  • More Outputs (Pro Only): You can now add up to 8 differents sound outputs.
  • Improved Device Handling: If a sound output device disconnects, any sounds playing on that output are paused, and no new sounds can be started on this device until it is reconnected. The sound output button indicates the device’s status.
  • Customization: Sound outputs can now be renamed and color-coded for better identification.

  • Live Output Switching: Sounds can now be switched to different output devices while playing. Simply click the output indicator in the sound player to select a new output from a dropdown menu.

  • Pre-Configured Outputs: You can now pre-assign sounds to specific output devices.
Lighting Integration (Pro Only)
  • QLC Widget Support: Added support for QLC Widgets, including QLC Sliders, allowing direct control of light intensity from the player interface.

Phone Mode (Pro Only)
  • Simplified Interface: Introduced a new phone mode with a smaller interface, ideal for users seeking simplicity. This is a preliminary step towards a future Android/iOS port. This mode is available through the visual options popup.


About View Enhancements
  • Social Links: Added buttons linking to Sound Show’s YouTube, Facebook, and Discord channels.
  • Log File Access: Added buttons to open log files directly from the About view.
  • Detailed Version Info: The version number now includes OS information and whether the installation is Pro or Free, aiding in support.

Skins (Pro Only)
  • New Skin: Introduced a new black skin.
  • Skin Improvements: Made enhancements to existing skins, including fixing readability issues with the pink skin.


Playlist
  • Search Functionality: Added a search button to add items by name, in addition to drag-and-drop.
Instructions
  • Save Confirmation: When saving instructions, you are now prompted to either create a new button or overwrite an existing one.
Search Item Popup Improvements
  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where item titles were not displayed.
  • Playback Option: Added the ability to play items directly from the search popup to verify selections.
Project Load Check
  • Version Mismatch Notification: Added a check to notify users if a project was saved with a newer version of Sound Show, preventing potential issues from version mismatches.
MIDI Control (Pro Only)
  • Volume Control: Added MIDI actions to control the volume of sound players 3 and 4.
Sample Project Update (Pro Only)
  • Enhanced Content: Improved the default sample project with additional music tracks.
UI and Log Improvements
  • Color Palette Update: Improved the default color palette for grid buttons.
  • Enhanced Logs: Improved log files for easier support.
Quickplay Tab Fix
  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue in the free version that prevented adding items to the Quickplay tab.
Output Device Bug Fix
  • Configuration Menu Issue: Fixed a bug that could unintentionally change the output device while in the configuration menus.
General Improvements
  • Various Enhancements: Implemented multiple visual improvements and minor bug fixes
